NATURE: KS3 Commended

Anna in Year 7 shares a drawing and a poem about a flower she saw in her garden. Anna said: I like the way the flower is on its own and really stands out. It is a beautiful colour.

Spring flower

Bright yellow shoots poke through the crisp white icing that arrived overnight,

Hopeful and brave.

Short gusts pin the fragile stems, but they are soon released,

Strong and bold.

A thick crust of fallen leaves rustle in the distance,

Loud and crunchy.

The constant trickle of the nearby stream is like a soothing lullaby,

Alive and moving.

A single stem holds a solitary coral bloom,

Alone and beautiful.
